Closed St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, & New Years Day.

Hours subject to change, specifically on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.


No BACKPACKS of any size allowed on the grounds. Shoes and shirts must be worn at all times. Bathing suits must be covered.


The lighthouse may close without warning due to adverse weather conditions.


Tickets include admission to the complete Light Station,

a Tybee Raised Cottage, and the Tybee Museum in Battery Garland.

Drone Policy

Drones are allowed to be flown over the site outside of operating hours. That means drones are not allowed to fly over the light station and museum every day except for Tuesdays, from 9AM-5:30PM.

How Many Steps?

178.  There is a platform every 25 steps with a resting area and a viewing window.

Is There An Elevator?

No

Will I Have to Wait in Line?

Possibly.  For safety purposes we must limit the amount of people allowed in the lighthouse at one time. This means that during peak times there can be a line to get into the lighthouse.

What's Your Drone Policy?

Drones are allowed to be flown over the site outside of operating hours. That means Wednesday-Monday from 9AM-5:30PM drones are not allowed over the light station and museum.

 

Directions from I-16 going through Downtown Savannah:

Getting Here

  • Follow I-16 E to Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard in Savannah.

  • Take exit 167A for Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard

  • Turn left onto Martin Luther King Jr Blvd

  • Turn right onto W Bay St

  • Merge onto US-80 E/Islands Expy

  • Continue on Islands Expy

  • Keep left at the fork, follow signs for US-80 E and merge onto US-80 E/Islands Expy

  • Continue to follow US-80 E 

  • Turn left onto N Campbell Ave

  • Turn left onto Van Horne Ave

  • Turn right at the 1st cross street onto Meddin Dr

  • Continue onto Meddin Dr

  • Destination will be on the left
