Assistant Group & Volunteer Coordinator
Reports to: Executive Director and Director of Operations
Position: permanent part time 32 hours;
Schedule: Monday, Thursday, Friday, & Sunday 9 AM – 5 PM
$16.50/hour
*Must be able to climb the lighthouse, work in inclement weather, have strong computer skills, and lift up to 15 pounds
Duties

Knowledge of all volunteers, the site, and its history

Work closely with Volunteer Coordinator (VC) to make sure there is adequate coverage of buildings for the day. Including filling in for volunteers when necessary

Assist VC in managing the volunteer calendar

Manage community service workers including scheduling, monitoring, and paperwork in VC’s absences

Assisting with volunteer training as needed
-
Tour site (including climbing the tower) on a daily basis to make sure it is safe and secure for visitors, enforcing rules with guests when necessary

Help the Director of Programming & Membership (DPM) with daily guided group tours which could include climbing the tower

Help the DPM with reservations, scheduling, and payments

Assist with parking lot duty, the gift shop, ticket sales and after hours events as needed

Help to answer phones & keep site tidy, clean and safe for visitors

Be out and about greeting and talking with visitors on a regular basis

Opening and closing site as needed

Plus any additional tasks that the Executive Director or Director of Operations assigns
Qualifications & Requirements

Must be able to climb the lighthouse tower.
-
Strong teamwork skills and ability to collaborate effectively.

Proficiency in computer applications, including scheduling software and basic administrative tools.

Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.

Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, and rain.
