The Fourth Day Mark

Finally a day mark that was easily recognizable from the shipping channel. It was the longest lasting daymark. Not being replaced until 1965. One wonders why it needed replacing.

In 1999 the lighthouse reverted to this, the fourth daymark.

Did you know?

The first lighthouse built in America, was built in the year 1716. The lighthouse was located on Little Brewster Island at the south side of Boston Harbor. The original lighthouse was destroyed by the British during the Revolutionary war in 1775.
